Our team of physiotherapists all have a common interest in sports and orthopedics, but each member has their own individual style and personality. Treatments will include the use of manual techniques (hands on), modalities (machines) and focused exercise prescription.

Physiotherapist l Works In: Coquitlam

Ben graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (with Distinction) and a Concentration in Active Health and Rehabilitation, before continuing on at Queen’s University, where he graduated with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy.

Ben has worked as a student trainer with SFU’s varsity athletes and provided on-field coverage for numerous youth sporting events. He has experience working with a range of clients, including varsity athletes, children/youth, adults, and seniors. Ben strives to help his clients keep moving and pursue their passions, through active and individualized rehabilitation plans. He is currently pursuing further education in orthopaedic assessment and treatment techniques.

In his spare time, Ben can often be found playing sports, trying out new recipes in the kitchen, or matching wits with friends and family in the latest board game he has picked up.

Jenessa Neidig Kinesiologist l Works in Coquitlam

Jenessa holds a Bachelor of Kinesiology with a specialization in Exercise Science from the University of the Fraser Valley and a Diploma in Sport Science from Douglas College. Her academic journey ignited a strong interest in rehabilitation, particularly through courses in exercise physiology, biomechanics, and clinical exercise therapy. This interest was further deepened during her personal recovery from an ACL injury sustained while playing volleyball.

Since 2021, Jenessa has worked as a Physiotherapy Assistant at Trailside and has been involved as a team trainer for local lacrosse, football, and soccer teams. Outside of her professional role, Jenessa engages in recreational soccer and volleyball, enjoys intermediate hiking and kayaking across British Columbia, and participates in spikeball games with friends.

Jenessa aims to make active rehabilitation both accessible and straightforward, while fostering a sustainable healthy lifestyle beyond the clinic.

Physical Therapist Works In: Coquitlam and New Westminster Uptown

Jay first began his career during Trailside’s inception, working for four years as a Kinesiologist after graduating from SFU in 2004 (with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology). He then went on to complete his Masters of Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney (Australia) in 2010. After working and gaining invaluable experience down under, he returned to Trailside in 2016.

Jay has furthered his education by obtaining Level One certification in the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), and Levels One and Two in the Functional Movement Screen (FMS). While in Australia he also attended Levels One and Two of the Watson Headache Institute’s Headache course titled “The Role of C1-C3 Cervical Afferents in Primary Headache” (For further information, go to www.WatsonHeadacheInstitute.com)

In the fall of 2016, as Coquitlam was hosting the BC 55+ Games, Jay volunteered to act as Director of Medical Services, helping deliver a very successful 5-day event.

Physical Therapist l Works in New Westminster & Coquitlam

Nick graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (with Distinction) before completing his Master of Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia. He has also achieved Level One certification in the Advanced Integrated Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Program through the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. During his time at SFU, Nick gained hands-on experience working with varsity athletes as a Student Trainer for the Men’s Basketball team.

Nick’s passion for physiotherapy was sparked during his time as an athlete, where he faced multiple injuries from basketball and running. These experiences deepened his appreciation for the human body’s resilience and fueled his commitment to helping others recover and thrive. In his practice, Nick takes an evidence-based, client-centered approach, emphasizing his belief that movement is medicine and tailoring treatments to meet each client’s unique goals.

Prior to his career in physiotherapy, Nick also worked as a kinesiologist and weight training attendant, where he further developed his understanding and appreciation of strength and conditioning and its role in injury management.

When he’s not in the clinic, you’ll likely find Nick at the gym, on a run, or playing basketball. He’s also a lifelong skier and enjoys hiking, golf and tennis.

Jacky Shen Physiotherapist - Works In: Coquitlam

Jacky is a Physiotherapist at Trailside Physio. After graduating with a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree at the University of British Columbia, he continued his studies in the UK and completed a Master of Science in Physiotherapy degree at Glasgow Caledonian University, graduating with distinction honours.

Jacky has worked with a diverse range of client groups – including athletes, individuals living with physical or neurological limitations, as well as those recovering from motor vehicle accidents and/or work-based injuries. He uses a combination of manual therapy, IMS/dry needling and individualized exercise to support each client’s rehab needs and meet their functional goals.

In his spare time, Jacky enjoys staying active in the gym, exploring the outdoors, and supporting his favourite sports teams.

**Physical Therapist** Works In: Coquitlam & Port Coquitlam

Christina graduated with honours from the University of Findlay with a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Physical Therapy. She is licensed in acupuncture and functional dry needling/IMS and holds certifications in the Mulligan technique and the Selective Functional Movement Assessments (SFMA). Christina is also currently pursuing an education in more advanced orthopaedic and manual physiotherapy.

Christina played varsity soccer at UF and in her retirement from soccer has taken up weightlifting and cycling. She has spent much of her life around competitive athletes and people who are enthusiastic about living life to the fullest. She has experience in treating a wide variety of patients from geriatrics to the weekend warriors, cross-fitters and elite level athletes. She is passionate about getting people back to more than just the basics but getting them back to doing the things they love!

Tri graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Kinesiology undergraduate degree and a Master’s of Physical Therapy. He has worked as an athletic trainer with numerous collegiate teams, as well as the 2012-2013 shortened NHL season working with Vancouver Canucks players. Tri also values continual education, having completed his Doctorate of Physiotherapy in clinical musculoskeletal management, with a further focus on evidence-based clinical decision-making. His professional drive is to help his clients return to healthy, active lifestyles. In addition Tri has worked as a Canada Games Pool swimming instructor, coached youth sports for the Vancouver School Board, and volunteered as a rehab assistant in a Burnaby nursing home.
